Advent Boxes work on the principal of advent calendars. The boxes contain dioramas based on a Christmas-related theme set each year. Early in December, one box is placed in each of 11 local shops and one in the St Andrew's Centre. Each day at midday we open one box, and a suitable carol is sung by members of our parish, shop staff and passersby. The last box is opened at the church. The boxes remain on view for several days afterwards for people to enjoy.

We celebrate the birthday of Jesus at Christmas. It is a time for joy, peace and love. Those creating the boxes spend a lot of time and their skills to put these together. This is something we do in the community for everyone to enjoy. The shops lend the space and we are grateful for their willingness to be involved.
