Trip To Thailand

In November 2015 seven Waiuku church members joined a Habitat for Humanity trip to build several homes in Phuket, Thailand.
It was an amazing experience to work hard – in the heat – to create a home for a young mum and her two children. Everyone took part in the various stages of the build – filling the floor to the required level, concreting, laying concrete blocks for the walls, making sure walls were straight and level at all stages and finishing to the required standard of the local Habitat office staff. We worked solidly for a week – eating sumptuous lunches under the tents and provided by the local village folk.
We followed the build with a few days R and R – resting and visiting the local beaches as well as sightseeing. A wonderful way to work alongside other folk, be able to help others, promote Habitat’s vision of everybody deserving a decent place to live.
