    Reverend Richard Gray

    Minister

Hi, I'm Richard Gray, minister at Waiuku and District combined churches and have been here since early 2015. My roots are in this part of the country as I was born in Pukekohe. In 1983/84 I taught at Sandspit Road School in Waiuku, so have returned to this part of the country. I am married to Morag and we have three grown up children and three grandsons.

My other ministries have been in Wairoa in northern Hawkes Bay, Wellington where I served as School Chaplain at Scots College and was minister for the Seatoun Presbyterian Parish, and First Church in Invercargill. Over the years I have had involvement in wider church and community interests. At national church level I have served on the PCANZ Nominating Committee, and the Assembly Business Workgroup and have served as Moderator of Gisborne, Wellington and Southland Presbyteries as well as the Synod of Otago and Southland. In the various communities I have been involved in the Kindergarten movement, School Board of Trustees, a Wellington City Council Community Centre and the Order of St John.

    Church Office Administrator

I joined the church staff in September 2023, although I have been a member here since 2015. My background is in the Christian not-for-profit sector, having worked in a variety of roles from customer service and clerical administration to fundraising and communications. I love the community focus of this parish and enjoy helping in whatever way I can.

I have been the Manager of our church Opportunity Shop since May 2016. My occupation prior to that was a primary school teacher for 20+ years both overseas and in NZ. I have been residing in Waiuku for the past 10 years. Prior to that I was living in the Caribbean for 14 years. I am widowed with two young adults who are still living at home with me. I am an active member of St. Andrew's Church and have served on many committees responsible for organizing church activities. I warmly welcome you to visit myself and my team of over 80 volunteers at the most popular shop in town!

    Assistant to the Minister

I was born in India, completed my Master’s Degree in Scotland and pursued a medical career in Cancer Research before settling down in New Zealand with my family. I live in Waiuku with my husband Santhosh and we are blessed with two precious daughters.

On Sundays, this exciting role involves Bible Study and training for the children to lead the All Age Worship services through song, prayer, bible readings and presentations. Other weekly activities organised are Mainly Music and Playgroup with ongoing Mission Outreach opportunities identified and acted upon.

Outside of my Church life, I am actively involved in local Waiuku Community Services and am a member of the Board of Trustees for the Waiuku Family Support Network (WFSN).

All through my journey of life, faith in God has been my strong anchor, light and guide. I am amazed by God’s love and great plans for us as His children. This makes me very passionate and enthusiastic about transferring lifelong faith in God to our next generation through my current role as the Children and Young Families’ Co-ordinator at St. Andrew’s.
